Pre-Halloween Shopping List

Halloween is by no means my favorite holiday. It’s actually my least favorite because I’m a big scardy-cat. However, my love of decor outweighs my hatred of Halloween, so here I am walking down every Halloween isle (trying to be brave) and decorating. Unlike my Christmas and Thanksgiving decor, my Halloween decor is just for me; I’ll never throw a Halloween party so boyfriend and I will be the only one’s seeing this decor. Sometimes it’s easier when you’re just decorating for yourself because you can limit yourself to pieces that really speak to you.

One of the first questions I ask myself before I buy something is ‘will this make me happy every time I look at it?’

I would definitely recommend trying it sometime, it’s completely eliminated buyers remorse for me. Anyways, since I don’t “love” Halloween, I decided to not decorate my whole house and limited myself to the front door, the end table in the living room, the dining room shelves, and some dinnerware. Checkout below for some of my favorites and what’s currently in my shopping carts. I’ll do a full post in October for the final looks. Enjoy!

My Pinterst boards are full of ideas for home decor, who’s aren’t? But what I’ve recently gotten into is the front door. It’s the first thing people see when they come to your home so it’s only natural that it should be part of the holiday decor. Well finally I have a real front door, not an apartment where everyone steals your wreaths 😡. I love the idea of decorating a door because it’s very similar to scrapbooking. In that you’re decorating a 2 dimensional space. Since I love scrapbooking, I’m really excited to start decorating my front door. What I’ve found is that wreaths are a must, and really the focal point of the whole door. My goal one day is to have a wreath for every month, not sure where I’ll store all 12 wreaths but I’ll deal with that when the time comes. The next must-have is a doormat, luckily these are easier to store. Then you need some good 3-D pieces, stuff to put on the porch like pumpkins for fall or life size nutcrackers for Christmas (another dream).

| Boo Plaque | Burlap Banner |  White Pumpkin | Orange Pumpkin | Haunt it Mat

I couldn’t find a good picture of the wreath I just bought (only $40 at Pier 1, here). But I still wanted to include it so here it is:

For me, dinnerware is hard because we never host parties or have people over. But, I’m hoping to change that, I think we’ll do Thanksgiving at our house this year and just see how it goes. That being said, I couldn’t help myself, how cute are these skeleton glasses? From there I decided that I was going to mix in some of my Thanksgiving pumpkins and decor with the Halloween decor. Then it’s a double win and I don’t have to feel bad about only buying something for one holiday.

| Silverware | Spider Glasses | Soup Bowl | Black Glasses | Skeleton Wine Glass | Spider Plate |

One of the reasons why I did dining room shelves, instead of mirrors or paintings, is the versatility that they bring if I ever want to change up my decor. Which is perfect for the holidays. Now, I don’t want to completely re-do my shelves for every holiday or season, so I’m just changing out a couple of pieces to get in the Halloween spirit.

| Face Cream Jar | Love Potion Bottle | Orange Circus Tent | Jack-O-Lantern | Black Halloween Bottle | Pickles Jar |

This end table has been my lifelong goal for my home (not kidding). I love having horizontal surfaces in the room and, aside from the fire place, the end table is a big focal point. So, I love that I get to finally decorate it for each holiday.

Cat Bookend | Skeleton Candle Holder | Skull Snow Globe | Beware Sign | Black Spider | Haunted House Pillow | Black Pumpkins
