One of the first things I do, ie get to do, for my Christmas decor is the front porch. My husband loves Thanksgiving so he never lets me put up a single Christmas decoration until after Thanksgiving. Luckily, I can usually get away with decorating the front porch a week early … because he never goes out there.
Christmas trends change every year but with the front porch, I stick to the classics: poinsettias and red. But if you follow me on Instagram you know that I steer clear from real plants. But the pro to real plants and getting them to stay up and look good in a planter. So I found this trick on Pinterest that involved putting scotch tape in a square pattern. And it actually worked really well in holding the plants up! But I didn’t to need to use a little filler greenery on the bottom to puff them up a little.
Update:
The standard way to put fake plants into a pot it to use Styrofoam to hold the plants in place, so I had to try it out. To be honest, it works waayyy better than the tape method.
