New Year’s Resolution: Update

I can’t believe I’m already 2 months in to my 2021 Resolution! And I haven’t died yet, shocker. In 2021, my resolution was to only spend $200, a month, on Amazon. I know it seems like a lot but, trust me, this was such a challenge for me. The month of February is barely complete and I’m feeling the affects of this responsible, adult decision.

*** Make sure to checkout the first blog post of this series, here, on specifically how I’m going to keep this budget. ***

How it’s Going:

If you couldn’t tell by the cover photo, I’m receiving a fraction of the Amazon packages I received in Fall 2020. So, my Amazon budgeting has been a success … a depressing, uneventful, sad, success. I’m definitely spending waaaayyy less money, so my bank account and credit cards are happy. My emotional state, not so much. I typically spend my $200 allowance in the first week of the month. And add things to my cart throughout the month. Luckily, since I can only spend a certain amount, I’m limiting myself to only purchasing things I really, really want. Which I guess is good, not as satisfying, but good. The saddest part is that I get some emotional satisfaction from just putting items in my card 🙂 but that’s for another therapy session.

What I Learned:

I wasn’t expecting the excitement that came from returns ! I had two items that I didn’t love, so I was able to return them. THEN, I got to re-spend that money because it went back on my gift card by the next day! .. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Amazon is amazing. It was like a little present in the middle of the month.

Challenges:

In 2020, I was definitely that girl who was expecting an Amazon package everyday. It was amazing and everyday felt like christmas. Now, that I’m not getting a package everyday, what do people get excited for? Seriously, I use to get excited for my daily package, and now I’m not. Honestly, this is probably a deeper psychological issue that I can live without. 🙂 I’ll get over this one day, but let’s not dig deeper into this issue.
