Holiday Baking: Puppy Chow

At the start of December, I set out to make one holiday-themed dessert a week… well it’s Christmas Eve and this is only my second dessert :/ I’ll most likely go on a baking spree between Christmas and New Years to make up for it. But I’ve saved the easiest finger foods for everyone’s holiday parties, Puppy Chow! Also known as Muddy Buddies.

Ingredients:

  • 6 C Crispix cereal
  • 1/2 C Penut Butter
  • 1 C mini semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 C powdered sugar
  • Wax paper for drying
  • Large bowl for mixing
  • Gallon size Ziploc bags

Directions:

  1. In the large bowl, combine the penut butter and semi sweet chocolate chips. Heat in microwave for a minute and a half, stirring every 30 seconds.
  2. In large bowl, add in the Crispix cereal and gently stirring together. I like to use Crispix instead of Chex Mix but they are much more delicate.
  3. Add 1/2 c of powdered sugar to the gallon size Ziploc bag and 1/3 of the Crispix, chocolate, and penut butter mixture. Gently toss until Crispix are fully coated. Repeat this step 3 times until everything is coated in powdered sugar.
  4. Lay out onto wax paper to dry for 10 minutes.
