Travel Essentials for International Flights

As we get into the new year and start planning out travels, it’s time to start buying the essentials.. this month I’m sharing all my favorite things for international travel. Yes, not all travel is created equally and international and domestic flights are so different and preparing for them can be just as challenging.

Comfy Pants: I know some people don’t consider leggings pants, but that’s very 2008. Now, you can total wear leggings as pants as long as you’re on an airplane and you’re wearing a cardigan that covers your butt. These are my favorite because they’re a little thicker so they’re great for cold airports and airplanes.

Layers: Layering up is great in an airport because they’re so unpredictable, some are hot, some are cold, some don’t even have AC. And if you’re planning to go to sleep, it can doh el as a blanket.

Comfy Shoes: One of the worst things about airports is going through security and taking off your shoes… pro tip: don’t look up how much bacteria is on that floor. So please don’t wear flip flops or open toed shoes. But you also don’t want to be the person who’s holding up the lines because you’re tying your shoes. These flip on shoes are my favorite, they aren’t perfectly white, they’re a light grey which is perfect for dirt.

External Chargers: I talk a lot about external chargers. One of the worst things while traveling is being lost in a city and your phone dies. So I’m a big believer in carrying multiple external chargers, especially if you’re using Google Maps or posting on social media. Just make sure to charge them at night.

Adapters: One thing I’ll never understand is how the entire world can get on board with one unit of time, but electrical outlets can vary country to country. What can be confusing is which countries use which shaped outlet. To avoid this confusion, I buy this universal adapter that has all the different electrical sockets.

Noise Cancelling Headphones: (40% off!) – Bose Noise Cancelling headphones are my favorite and honestly a game changer. You can get the cordless but you won’t be able to hook them up to the inflight entertainment on the plane, which is a great way to waste time on a long flight.

Passport Holder: In the airport, it’s easy to lose track of all your travel documents, and you always have to whip them out at the most inconvenience times. But passport holders are also good for protecting your passport and keep everyone is one place. I’ve seen a hand full of people get turned away at the airport because their passport was in bad condition…. so don’t let that be you! But, make sure to take your passport out of the holder when you go through border security.

Moisturizing Face Mask: It’s so important to wear a face mask if you’re going on a long flight because your skin get so dry when your flying. I’ve tried all the Mary Kay face masks and this one is by far my favorite. It leaves your skin glowing and fully moisturized.

Credit Card with No Foreign Transaction Fees: One thing that I’ve learned is that not every country has embraced the credit card; In the US I never use cash but when I’m in a different country outside of North America, there are many places that don’t take credit cards. But I hardly have an issue when it comes to restaurants and hotels, and while it’s good to carry cash, you still don’t want to be carrying too much of it. So, a good credit card is good, just make sure that you don’t pay an extra 3% for foreign transaction fees.
