Front Porch Decor: January 2021

Every year, my New Year’s Resolution is to decorate my front porch for every month. Like clockwork, every year around April my motivation/inspiration dwindles and I give up. So here’s hoping 2021 is the year I stick to this resolution! What better way to start off 2021 than with snow!

Theme: In Texas, we never get snow until (maybe) January or February… and even then it’s more like sleet. So every January we do our let-it-snow dance and hope that the rain turns to snow and not ice. In this case, I’m doing my let-it-snow dance is in the form of my decor.

Typically, the wreath is the first thing I purchase for my themed doors. During Christmas I purchased large snow flakes and got he idea of making the snowflake the “O” in “snow”. I decided to be a little more festive, and hit up those after-Christmas sales, by purchasing a winter wreath, and adding snowflakes and a snowman. It’s less simple and I love it! Then, I headed over to my local Hobby Lobby to buy the “S”, “N”, and “W”. Technically this isn’t a wreath, but what else would you call it ?

Lets be honest, most of the people who come to my house are delivery personnel, either delivering food or my latest Amazon purchase. So the floor mat has to be awesome because it’s the last thing they see. Luckily, on Amazon there is a plethora of doormat options!

This year, my adult self asked for topiaries for Christmas, so these will be a forever constant on my front porch this year.  I love adding symmetry to spaces, especially places that are already symmetric, like a door. They also provide height and the pop of green!

Sometimes, you have a really great door design but it all comes together when you add in the details. Adding in the snowflakes really ties everything together and it gives some dimension to blank spaces.
