Well, hello there online friends! It’s been far too long since I posted on my blog (so much for that New Year’s Resolution). I’m so glad I finally had time this weekend to sit down and write a blog post about how I updated my half bathroom. It all started out with me wanting to paint a wall black, so I picked the smallest wall in the house 🙂
Thanksgiving is sometimes overlooked by Christmas, but not in my house because it’s one of my husbands favorite holidays. So naturally, being a naive, newly married couple we decided to host Thanksgiving this year for both our families. For the most part, everything went wonderfully there were still a couple things I didn’t think of, because I’m still a new adult 🙂
One of the first things I do, ie get to do, for my Christmas decor is the front porch. My husband loves Thanksgiving so he never lets me put up a single Christmas decoration until after Thanksgiving. Luckily, I can usually get away with decorating the front porch a week early … because he never goes out there.
Hi Friends! I’m so excited to share my largest DIY with you, painting my master bathroom. And, I don’t just mean painting the walls, that’s child’s play. I painted the walls, cabinets, AND tile. I didn’t want to go through the whole ordeal of replacing everything in my bathroom, because my townhome is only 4 years old so everything is in great shape. It’s just a little too dark for my taste so I wanted to brighten up the room.
Every spring, florals are always on trend (#shocking) but I’m currently obsessed with adding green accents into my home decor, I just love the look of blue and green. So what better way to add green than by adding plants?…fake plants that is. Don’t ask me to keep a real plant alive, it’s not in my nature.
The weather has been so beautiful in Texas the last couple weeks it has inspired me to actually buy live, living, breathing, plants (gasp)! I’m usually not an advocate for living plants, not only do I not have a green thumb but I just prefer the lifespan of a fake plant, especially inside. But it seems to be the trend in spring to buy real plants ( I wonder why ). So I’ve decided to jump on the bandwagon and see what all the fuss is about.
Since I purchased my little townhome two years ago, I’ve been very fortunate in that I haven’t had to any major renovations. The home was only a year and a half old when we bought it so everything is in great shape. Since it’s all in such good condition, I can’t bring myself to spend the money on renovating rooms that don’t fit my particular style. For example, I love the idea of having white cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, BUT it’s such a huge undertaking to replace and even paint cabinets that it just doesn’t make much sense. That being said, in the last couple months, I’ve been able to brainstorm ways to transform my master bath into the southern-glam feel that I’m going for, without breaking the bank or doing any major renovations.
I use to describe my home decor style between ‘traditional’ and ‘wood-cabin’. I loved the deep woods and comfy leather couches. But, lately, I also started to love the gold and white of modern design. Then I discovered Ballard Designs, which is described as ‘European-style’, but to me it’s the epitome of classic southern style. Every time I go to their website I want to buy absolutely everything. Of course, I don’t quite have the budget to shop there, yet. I like to consider this my ‘forever home’ store. Meaning that when I move into my forever home, I’ll furnish it completely with Ballard (can you tell, I also plan on being super rich when I grow up??). So, in the meantime I found a way to have a Ballard-inspired living room at a fraction of the cost. Keep reading to see how and where you can find the dups!
I was originally going to start this post by saying “my favorite part of Christmas, is the food”…. but then I realized that it’s absolutely impossible to pick just one thing to like about Christmas. But I do love the food and the family getting together, which usually involves the dining room table. This year, I decided to officially decorate the dining room table, it’s a little simple for now but I’m in love with how everything plays off and compliments each other.
