Since I purchased my little townhome two years ago, I’ve been very fortunate in that I haven’t had to any major renovations. The home was only a year and a half old when we bought it so everything is in great shape. Since it’s all in such good condition, I can’t bring myself to spend the money on renovating rooms that don’t fit my particular style. For example, I love the idea of having white cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, BUT it’s such a huge undertaking to replace and even paint cabinets that it just doesn’t make much sense. That being said, in the last couple months, I’ve been able to brainstorm ways to transform my master bath into the southern-glam feel that I’m going for, without breaking the bank or doing any major renovations.
This post is super hard for me to stomach because I can’t even believe that I convinced myself to do this. It goes against everything that I believe, and honestly I’m still not sure if I made the right decision. (Deep breath…) I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve, even thought I’m ineligible to receive that 50,000 bonus.
As we get into the new year and start planning out travels, it’s time to start buying the essentials.. this month I’m sharing all my favorite things for international travel. Yes, not all travel is created equally and international and domestic flights are so different and preparing for them can be just as challenging.
I use to describe my home decor style between ‘traditional’ and ‘wood-cabin’. I loved the deep woods and comfy leather couches. But, lately, I also started to love the gold and white of modern design. Then I discovered Ballard Designs, which is described as ‘European-style’, but to me it’s the epitome of classic southern style. Every time I go to their website I want to buy absolutely everything. Of course, I don’t quite have the budget to shop there, yet. I like to consider this my ‘forever home’ store. Meaning that when I move into my forever home, I’ll furnish it completely with Ballard (can you tell, I also plan on being super rich when I grow up??). On the drive to Jasper, Alberta (a 5 hour drive from Calgary) we stopped off at the Jasper Glacier Skywalk and Icefields to walk on the glacier and see the amazing views. It’s about an hour and a half south of Jasper so it’s the perfect activity to stretch your legs right before you get to the hotel. Also the views are insane and definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
I think I’m going to start a new series on this blog for my monthly favorites an things that I’m obsessed with. It’s only fitting that I start this right after Christmas when all the sales are in full swing! Honestly, after Christmas shopping if more fun than Christmas shopping, for me, because the sales are so great!
Happy first official addition of Wedding Wednesday! Since I’m an artsy person, it seems only fitting that my first post on this series is a creative one. Now I’m not sure when ‘bridesmaids proposal’ gifts became a thing but I think it’s a really cute idea that millennials came up with. Essentially, it’s a gifts that you give your bridesmaids, full of little wedding stuff, when you ask them to be your bridesmaids.
One thing that I’ve learned from earning and using points is that Chase Ultimate Rewards points are wonderful and go a long way when booking your vacation, but they are not always the best option. Depending on where and when you’re going, sometimes the best option could be transfer Chase points or to even not use points and spend the money.
I was originally going to start this post by saying “my favorite part of Christmas, is the food”…. but then I realized that it’s absolutely impossible to pick just one thing to like about Christmas. But I do love the food and the family getting together, which usually involves the dining room table. This year, I decided to officially decorate the dining room table, it’s a little simple for now but I’m in love with how everything plays off and compliments each other.
When we first decided to go to Alberta, Canada it was to see the stars ✨. We’re city kids so the thought of seeing stars in the sky is a complete wonder. As I was Googling (I love how that’s a verb now) I found out that Jasper National Park was a Dark Sky Reserve, meaning that light pollution is limited and we were more likely to see a shit ton of stars. Every fall/winter Banff and Lake Louise are all over my Instagram feed as every bloggers favorite go-to. Luckily for me, Banff is on the way to Jasper so it seemed like a win-win. What I wasn’t expecting was for how different these two places were.
