Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with taking photos of everything ! It’s the main reason why I started this blog/Instagram. In the past I would print out all my photos at Costco and stick them into photo albums. But over the years photos have become so digitalized that there almost isn’t a need for albums anymore. Honestly, I still love them! There is something to be said about sitting back and flipping through an album and reliving events from years past. Trust me, it’s not the same as scrolling through old photos on Facebook or Instagram.
I’ve been seeing this stacked log fireplace insert all over Instagram and I love it. Having the television over the fireplace is difficult for decorating and also results in two black boxes that take up most of the fireplace. So this is the perfect solution for me! I was all on board for buying one of these on Etsy, but $200 seemed ridiculous. I managed to make my own for around $75!
I use to describe my home decor style between ‘traditional’ and ‘wood-cabin’. I loved the deep woods and comfy leather couches. But, lately, I also started to love the gold and white of modern design. Then I discovered Ballard Designs, which is described as ‘European-style’, but to me it’s the epitome of classic southern style. Every time I go to their website I want to buy absolutely everything. Of course, I don’t quite have the budget to shop there, yet. I like to consider this my ‘forever home’ store. Meaning that when I move into my forever home, I’ll furnish it completely with Ballard (can you tell, I also plan on being super rich when I grow up??). FINALLY! I think my living decor is finally at a semi-finalized state, at least for this year. I have such a good time decorating for any kind of holiday, and Christmas is easily my favorite. This year I did things a little untraditionally in my living room because I now have pops of blue that I didn’t want to pack up. I tried to stick to mostly neutrals and didn’t try to add any pops of color.
On a normal day, I’m not a DIY person; I’d much rather buy something than make it. However, there are times, and they happen frequently, that I’m looking for something so specific that I have to accept the fact that I have to make something for myself. And the white books that you see in every home decor Instagram is the look that I’m going for and it’s been impossible to find!!! Seriously, I don’t know where they find these white spine books, so we’re making them ourselves.
